MASTERCLASSES

For groups and organisations we run a full days class, usually on Saturdays. Where groups come by mini- bus, the driver or organiser comes free.  The day is 6 hours teaching, with breaks for coffee and tea with an excellent lunch.  Students are encouraged to bring their work in progress for advice and direction and to bring their own tools for senses sake. Talks are given on various technical aspects of our art.  Spouses or partners can come along to enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens or perhaps borrow a bike to explore the beautiful country side.

THE COURSE

People come to us  for either of two reasons; to spend time away to relax and learn or purely to learn.  Masterclasses on a one to one basis are very popular with the experienced carver who wishes to take the art a little further.

Once you decide the subject you will be expertly guided through every stage, from design through to roughing then on to detail and finishing. We work through the process together after initial contact so that on arrival at our studio the preparation work would be complete and you would be almost ready to start. You may even have some projects of your own that have a special meaning for you.

THE PLACE

Here in Lincolnshire we are ideally placed for bird watching and walking. The house has stood since the mid 16 hundreds in the beautiful uninhabited Ancholme valley which sweeps into the mighty Humber, whose rich vastness is home to myriad bird species.

There are always bicycles available if you want to explore the miles and miles of open countryside we are blessed with here, the Humber bank is just down the road and the iron age Middlegate road commands breathtaking views of the Ancholme valley and the River Humber, you can literally lose yourself for hours.

We can also arrange to have beautiful walks guided by the Humber's leading authority on its birds and diversity of wildlife, the artist Miles Hopper. His talks and walks are packed with interest and full of excitement.

You are limited only by your imagination. Current course availablity can be obtained by ringing 01652 618071. In the meantime please read on for a glimpse of the HOUSE and STUDIO

RESIDENTIAL WEEKENDS

A limited number of residential tutorial weekends are available throughout the season. These weekends are tailored to the needs of the student so they can be individually catered for. We really want to give you the chance to realise in a weekend something that you will be very proud of and at the same time enjoy good Lincolnshire food, fine wines and a relaxing stay in a beautiful and quiet part of the country.

These weekends are popular with husband and wife duos who can take advantage of the vastness of the Lincolnshire landscape and enjoy its peace, quiet, and inspiring walks. Church Cottage is set in woodland amidst beautiful farmland  that suits privacy, romance and solitude.
