Saxby Art Exhibition and Classes at the Saxby BIG Weekend

Saxby BIG weekend on 8th – 9th July 2017 is a massive event every year, and this year the line-up for 2017 is attracting people from a wide local area. With events ranging from Art Exhibitions, Art Classes, Choral Concerts, Summer BBQ, and the popular Strawberry Tea.

 

O H Boyd will be displaying some of his artwork, and leading the woodcarving classes on Saturday and Sunday. 

 

SATURDAY

ART DISPLAY & CLASSES

Village Hall: 10am – 8pm

Display of original art and wood-carving, by local artists and Humber Woodcarvers, who will be exhibiting their members work throughout the week-end. There will be a wood-carving demonstration, and an opportunity for children to safely experience carving, using soap and wooden carving tools. It is also planned to hold a demonstration of calligraphy, and a drawing class for beginners.

 

CHORAL CONCERT & BBQ

All Saints Church 6.30 pm A choral concert by Weighton Waytes featuring soloist Lucy Bates. The concert will be followed by a Summer Barbeque in the new green amphi-theatre in Saxby’s developing bluebell wood. Prices: Concert incl BBQ £12.50 Other events – FREE

 

SUNDAY

 

ART DISPLAY & CLASSES

Village Hall: 10am – 4pm Exhibitions and demonstrations continue in the Village Hall.

 

ARCHERY

Saxby Hall Gardens: 12 noon Archery demonstration and opportunity to participate — in the gardens of Saxby Hall, courtesy of Mr & Mrs C. H Barton.

 

ILLUSTRATED TALK

Village Hall: 2pm Illustrated talk on the carving of the new Brigg Angel – in the village hall by Mr O.H Boyd.

 

STRAWBERRY TEAS

Rose Cottage: 3pm Strawberry teas to be served at Rose Cottage, 60 Main Street, courtesy of Mr & Mrs B. Bearfield.

Prices: Talk and strawberry tea £7.50 Other events – no charge
